Membership

For any further inquiries, you may contact "westlandrifleandpistolclub@gmail.com"

We encourage prospective members to visit us and have a chat with the duty range officer and other members present to see if we can provide what you are looking for.

Due to the requirements of our Home Office Approval you will generally be unable to shoot anything other than airguns until you have submitted an application to join the club. There are exceptions to this rule which will allow visitors to shoot firearms, other than airguns. These are if you hold a current Firearms Certificate or if you can prove that you are a full member of another approved club.

If you shoot as a visitor you will pay a range fee of £5.00 on each occasion. We allow prospective members to visit the club and shoot on up to four occasions before asking for a decision as to whether they wish to join.

If you decide to join there is a £10.00 joining fee and with the completed application form you will be asked to supply a letter of reference from somebody who has known you for two or more years ( preferably someone other than a family member) and two recent passport size photographs. When you submit your application the range fee will reduce to that paid by all full members on each visit, when you shoot. The range fee is £2.00 for juniors (under 18 years of age) and £3.00 for adults.

The application form requires you to sign a declaration that you are not a prohibited person, within the meaning of the Firearms Acts, and we are required to inform the police of your application.

You will be required to serve a probationary period during which you must attend and shoot regularly. During this period you will be supervised and given instruction in safety and other aspects of firearms use. At the end of this period The Club Committee will review your record and determine whether you can be accepted as a member On acceptance, as a full member, you will be required to pay the balance of the current annual membership fee.

This is only a broad outline of the process of becoming a member but provided you display a safe and responsible attitude towards the use of firearms, becoming a member should not pose any problems.

All clubs require maintenance and members are encouraged to donate some of their spare time to the general upkeep of the club. There are no rewards on offer for this activity other than the knowledge that it helps to keep membership fees lower than they may otherwise be.
